JESSICA'S FAMILY HISTORY

Hello there, my name is Jessica, and I'm 10 years
of age. I get my education at Mattawa McElligott
Elementary School. I'm in Grade 5 and my teachers
are Mr.D.Jackson for English, Mlle.J.Beaudoin for
French, and Mr.G.Honsberger for Music. Our Vice
Principal is Mrs.M.L.Rainville, and our Principal
is Mrs.O.Ridler.

I have lived in Mattawa all my life. There are
only three members in my family, including my Mom,
my Dad, and myself. I don't like the area I live in
because it is noisy all the time.

This is a picture of my Great Grandfather
John Gallson, the picture was taken in August of
1958. He used to work at the Guelph Cast Company,
in the fall and all winter long.

In the picture you can see he is cutting wood for
his winter usage. In those days they cut wood
early in the fall and piled it into cords.
They used horses, axes, and bucksaws.
My Great Grandparents used the wood not only to
heat their house but also used it to cook food on
the wood stove.

My Great Grandfather Gallson was in the war with
his son Jack. After he returned from the war he
would never talk about it, but what everyone found
out was that he was hit in the head with shrapnel.
He lived until my Dad was 16-17 years of age.
Today his son Jack Gallson is still alive.

Every Rememberance Day I always stand at the
cenotaph while they bring the wreaths up and then
after everyone's gone I go and say a prayer for
him. This year I'm putting a wreath at the front
of the cenotaph to represent my feelings for the
veterans that suffered in Battle.

Information received from Memere, Daddy, and my
own memory.
