KIOSK
Story of a Ghost Town
By Chelsea V, Grade 5

CARNIVAL TIME

This picture is of my Mom
and my Uncle standing in
front of Kiosk's first carnival.
This picture was taken in
February, 1969 and my Mom
was only 5 or 6 years old.
My Uncle was only 4 or 5
years old. I also have an
Aunt (Kim) and she was only
a month or two when this
picture was taken. Kiosk's
first carnival was its last one
too.
My Mom (Anita) used to live there when she was little.

My Uncle (Darryl) used to live there as well. My Granny and
Grandpa are their parents, (Shirly) and (Charlie).
My Grandpa lived in Kiosk from 1959-1978. My Granny lived
there from 1963-1978.
Kiosk had a mill that burnt down on July 15th or 16th, 1973.
The mill was right near my Mom's house. It must have been
scary when it burnt down.

My Dad, (Don), never lived in Kiosk, he only lived in Toronto
and Mattawa, ONT.
There were good fishing spots in Kiosk (and there still are.
It is on the northern edge of Algonquin Park. --TG)
Kiosk is a ghost town, as people prefer to call it, because
nobody lives there anymore.
That's all I have to say about KIOSK.
