WELCOME to
MATTAWA

.......First done in 1997-98, this is
...already HISTORY as you read it.
......That's how history works.
......... The young persons who worked on this
are bigger now, and some have gone on past
high school. Some of the teachers who made it
possible have moved on too, retired, or they
teach elsewhere. Things happen, and change.
We will remember the excitement of achieving
as we look back on what follows here.
........ There are many who think History is
only about things that happened long ago.

....... History happens one day at a time as we
all live it. If we make each day the best that it
can be, we can smile when we are old and know
that we had done our bit to make the world a
better place.
....... --T.Gibson, Mattaweb 2001

Please NOTE
Progress."

While this new section is under construction and many areas will
display "FILE NOT FOUND" messages, those who wish to follow
the links before they are ready here, will find them complete by
clicking CHIJ in MATTAWEB. This link will also remain as a way to enjoy reading the book Jamie and Jeff wrote in grade 6, called
The Way It's Done, NOT ! and others in Mattawa Young Authors.

With permission of Liz Cowan, reporter-photographer,
the photo from the December 1995 North Bay Nugget
was published in our Mattawa Young Authors website.
From left are Jeff Smuck, Mrs G, and Jamie Moore.
(Photo taken when the authors were in High School.)

This photograph has degraded badly over the past five years. It used to be clear. We have
to ask how well today's plans to store all the Wisdom of the Ages (business records) solely on
electronic media will succeed. Jeff's shirt was white, as were the papers on the table. What's
more, no one had a skin rash.... What else will change? Click the picture to get the original.

MORE RECENT HISTORY as of 2001

................ It took Jamie and Jeff all year in Enrichment sessions to write their book
bit by bit, much of the time "rolling on the floor," laughing. It really is a very funny
book in places, and they had their "fifteen minutes of fame" when interviewed by
the North Bay NUGGET. It was not until they were in grade 12 that Mattawa
.......
Young Authors went on the Internet, and their book was published for all to enjoy.
That was some years ago at this writing, before Mattaweb emerged. Both authors
are by now (I would guess) married and fraught with demands that come with
........
leaving childhood behind.
....

Do you want to read their book?
The Way It's Done, NOT!
They are in Mattaweb, (go online)
